We work to achieve that by promoting the brand and supporting CPHRs in their professional development to foster public confidence in the designation and demonstrate the value of HR to business
What is a CPHR?
The CPHR designation represents a commitment to a national standard of excellence and sets a benchmark for the practice of effective human resources. It emphasizes the strategic role of HR management in business and plays an important role in securing HR’s position as an equal business partner at the executive table.
The CPHR designation can enhance career opportunities and compensation potential. An increasing number of organizations require or prefer that successful candidates for HR positions hold, or are working towards obtaining, the CPHR designation. This is particularly true for senior HR positions.
Are CPHRs self-regulated?
In June 2025, The Chartered Professionals in Human Resources Act received proclamation and came into effect, making Human Resources a Self-regulated Profession in Manitoba. This Act validates the strategic expertise that HR professionals provide to employers and employees and gives CPHR Manitoba the regulated authority to ensure that its members uphold best HR practice and standards in Manitoba workplaces.
With Self-regulation, the HR profession and CPHR designation becomes stronger. The public, employers and employees can be confident that HR Professionals in Manitoba workplaces are held to the highest standard of HR practice in the country in dealing with issues such as employment and labour standards, occupational health and safety, human rights legislation, sexual harassment and bullying in the workplace, wellness, and mental health.
Why should you hire a CPHR?
Hiring a CPHR is the best way to ensure you are protecting your organization, your employees and the public with HR excellence and expertise. When you work with a CPHR, you have a leader on your team who understands the business of people. You have someone who can give strategic advice and clear guidance using HR metrics like pay and performance, current and accredited professional development, and first-hand knowledge and experience.
