The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC) collaborates with a wide variety of organizations to produce reports that illuminate key issues impacting Manitobans. These collaborations provide in-depth insights and recommendations to foster economic growth and support our local business community. We also create reports for specific programs and initiatives run and administered through MCC. These reports showcase our ongoing efforts to drive innovation, support local businesses, and advocate for policies that benefit Manitobans.

Manitoba Youth Mobility: Probing the Experiences of Manitoba Youth in an Effort to Stop Out-Migration 

  • Summary: Despite all the province has to offer, youth are leaving: Manitoba has experienced a net loss of 23,140 young people aged 15 to 34 over the past decade due to interprovincial migration. A project administered by the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce through funding from the Government of Manitoba’s COVID-19 Long-Term Recovery Fund was launched, asking the Canada West Foundation to investigate why young people choose to leave the province and how they could be attracted and retained. The report is based on an extensive literature review and a broad investigation into the reality of life for youth in Manitoba.

Manitoba’s Physician Shortage: Recommendations for Physician Recruitment and Retention

  • Summary: In October 2022, the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC) and Doctors Manitoba released a joint report with five recommendations to attract and retain physicians in rural and Northern Manitoba. The report has been submitted to the Minister of Health for government consideration, and both organizations are available to advise on implementation.

Manitoba Mineral Development Fund: Annual Reports

  • Summary: The Manitoba Mineral Development Fund (MMDF), a $20M provincial fund administered by the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC), aims to foster growth in the mineral development industry and stimulate economic development in northern Manitoba. MMDF focuses on supporting the mineral exploration and development sector by providing grant funding to projects that enhance Manitoba’s economy and local communities, particularly those related to the mining supply chain.

The Digital Services Program: Empowering Manitoba Businesses

  • Summary: Launched in March 2022 as part of the Digital Manitoba Initiative (DMI), the Digital Services Program by the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC) aimed to enhance digital capacity among Manitoba SMEs. This initiative provided businesses with essential technology training, tools, and expert support to optimize operations and succeed in today’s market. Funded through a 12-month agreement with Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan), the program aimed to drive digital transformation and business growth across Manitoba.

Provincial Tourism Strategy: Progress Report 2020

  • Summary: Launched in April 2019, the Manitoba Tourism Strategy aimed to increase visitor numbers to 12.5 million and boost spending to $2.2 billion by 2022. Oversight is provided by a Steering Committee co-chaired by Travel Manitoba and the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, involving industry and government stakeholders to drive strategic growth in Manitoba’s tourism sector.

Manitoba Tourism Strategy

  • Summary: In 2019, Travel Manitoba, the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, and the Government of Manitoba collaborated to develop a new vision for tourism in the province. This initiative aimed to enhance tourism’s economic impact through a comprehensive approach involving government agencies and private sector insights. The Provincial Tourism Strategy was crafted through consultations with industry stakeholders and key customers, guided by current tourism trends and opportunities.

Report to the Community: 2022

  • Summary: In response to COVID-19, the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce shifted focus to enhance network communications and deliver relief funds and support programs for businesses and communities. Working closely with our 65 local chambers of commerce, we provided steadfast support to our members and Manitoba’s business community throughout the pandemic.
