As 2024 comes to a close, the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce is proud to reflect on a year of innovative achievements, influential advocacy and impactful programs. At the heart of everything we do are our members and local chambers of commerce—the driving force behind our work to support Manitoba’s business community. From hosting sold-out events and launching cutting-edge programs, to advancing critical advocacy efforts and strengthening partnerships across the province, this year’s successes highlight the power of collaboration and a shared vision for a prosperous Manitoba. 

Here’s a look back at some of the moments that defined 2024:

Advocacy in Action

  • Manitoba Youth Retention: Partnered with the Canada West Foundation to study youth migration and recommend strategies for youth retention.
  • Premier’s Business & Jobs Council: Provided direct advice to Preimer Kinew support business growth and job creation. 
  • Trade Priorities: Advocated for reduced inter-provincial trade barriers and establishment of a Manitoba office in Washington. 
  • Physician Recruitment Success: Recommendations with Doctors Manitoba contributed to a net gain of 133 doctors. 
  • Federal Engagement: Strengthened our advocacy in Ottawa with participation in Canadian Chamber Hill Days.
  • Support for Clear Lake Businesses: Advocated for business supports for businesses after water access was restricted because of zebra mussels. 

Your Ticket to Manitoba’s Business Events

  • MBiz Breakfasts: Hosted six high-quality networking events connecting business leaders over inspiring discussions. 
  • Breakfast of Champions Series: Launched with NFI Group, spotlighting industry success stories. Stay tuned for more in 2025!
  • Signature Dinners: Hosted our Ministers’ and Deputy Ministers’ dinners connecting Manitoba’s business community with key decision makers.
  • Manitoba Economic Summit: Took our AGM & Economic Summit back on the road, gathering over 200 leaders in Brandon for impactful conversations. 
  • Manitoba Business Awards: Announced the revival of this beloved celebration with the launch of the new Manitoba Champions Awards for 2025 – nominate a business below!

Championing Impactful Programs

  • Manitoba Green Advantage: Launched this new program, hiring Program Director, Christa Rust and Program Manager, Sarah Duval who are driving the project.
  • Manitoba Mineral Development Fund: Granted over $14.7M to 90 projects to date, boosting the mining sector across the province. 
  • Economic Development Tours: Travelled over 4,200 KMs to host five tours, where 138 delegates visited 47 businesses in eight different communities!

And Everything in Between

  • Welcomed 35 new direct members, expanding our network of Manitoba businesses. 
  • Visited and met with over 40 local chambers, strengthening connections and partnerships.
  • Wrote and shared 96 new blog posts including advocacy updates, member profiles, event recaps, and insights into Manitoba’s business environment.
  • Published two MBiz Magazines full of insightful, timely, policy focused content.
  • Added five new staff members to our growing team. 
  • Celebrated one new Chamber baby in the MCC family – welcome little B!
