The FSMHCF, which is sponsored by the Manitoba Association of Home Economists (MAHE) and Peak of the Market, gives schools the opportunity to fundraise by selling bundles of locally grown potatoes, carrots, onions, parsnips and cabbage in $10 or $20 bundles, with schools retaining 50 per cent of all monies raised. Peak of the Market’s “Peak Peddlers” participated in the Rona MS Bike Tour from Stonewall to Gimli and back on August 27 and 28. The Peak Peddlers seven-member team rode a total of 172 kilometers. [Click on Pic to learn more]
Peak of the Market’s 14th Annual Family Fun Day held on August 11th raised $9,537.14 for Variety, the Children’s Charity of Manitoba. This was the highest amount raised in the 14 year history of the event. In total, about 5,000 people dropped by to make a donation to Variety, eat some vegetables and have lots of fun. Peak of the Market displayed at the Produce Marketing Association Foodservice Show in California for the first time. They built a 10 foot wide by 8 foot high wall of fresh vegetables.
