Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and Lieutenant Governor celebrate business excellence and community leadership.
WINNIPEG, MB, April 23, 2026 – The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 Manitoba Champions Awards, in recognition of outstanding individuals and organizations whose leadership, innovation, and community contributions drive Manitoba’s economic success and strengthen communities across our province.
Presented annually, the Manitoba Champions Awards celebrate businesses and individuals in two categories: the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Community; and the Manitoba Champion Awards.
“Across Manitoba, business leaders play a vital role in shaping strong, vibrant communities through their vision and community service,” said Lt.-Gov. Anita R. Neville. “It is my great privilege to recognize and celebrate the recipients of these prestigious awards for their outstanding contributions to our province.”
Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Community
Then Lieutenant Governor’s awards, presented annually to one individual and one business, recognize Manitoba business leaders whose vision, entrepreneurial spirit, and philanthropic contributions demonstrate a commitment to community at the highest level.
The 2026 Lieutenant Governor’s Awards recipients are:
Outstanding Contribution to the Community by an Individual: Colleen Munro, CEO and President, Munro Group.
An established business owner in heavy construction and a proven entrepreneur and innovator, Colleen Munro is president of the Munro Group of Companies.
Growing up on job sites, Colleen learned the business from the ground up, mentored by her father, Hugh Munro. She has spent much of her life forging a path in a male-dominated industry, earning respect and blazing a trail for others through her advocacy and leadership.
Over time, Colleen has embraced opportunities to expand her business offerings and today, the Munro group includes Hugh Munro Construction, Lilyfield Quarry, Fort Whyte Lowbedding, and ClearSecure.
Outstanding Contribution to the Community by a Business: Calm Air
Calm Air serves 22 small and large communities throughout Manitoba’s North and Nunavut. Much more than an airline, the company acts as a vital lifeline connecting community members, businesses, and governments, with the essential services and cargo they rely upon.
Community support is a core responsibility and defining element within the organization’s identity. With its operations serving primarily northern, remote, and Indigenous communities, Calm Air is committed to making positive contributions to the social, cultural, and economic health of the people it serves.
The organization supports healthcare, education, mental health, cultural revitalization, reconciliation, youth athletics, and regional economic development initiatives each year through flights, sponsorships and in-kind freight services, ensuring communities remain connected, supported, and resilient.
While the service is operational, the impact is human and it is clear that Calm Air cares, both about the communities it serves and the people it employs.
The Lieutenant Governor’s Award recipients will be honoured May 21 at a ceremony and reception hosted by Her Honour at Government House.
