Manitoba’s Mineral Future on Display at CCMEC 2025

Nov 7, 2025

The Manitoba Mineral Development Fund (MMDF) team and the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce were proud to participate in the Central Canada Mineral Exploration Convention (CCMEC) 2025 in Winnipeg this week. The event brought together industry leaders, Indigenous partners, investors, and innovators to discuss the future of mineral exploration and resource development across the region.

From full technical sessions to powerful keynote addresses by Kendal Netmaker and Nalaine Morin, the convention highlighted how collaboration, innovation, and reconciliation are shaping the path forward for Manitoba’s mineral sector.

One of the standout discussions, “Minago: Charting the Future of Mining Through Indigenous-led Resource Partnerships,” reflected the growing emphasis on reconciliation and community-driven development across the industry.

During the event, Manitoba Chambers of Commerce President and CEO Chuck Davidson, who also serves as Chair of MMDF, joined Program Director Ed Suzuki to co-present on the Manitoba Mineral Development Fund’s impact and future priorities. The presentation outlined how MMDF continues to drive inclusive growth by supporting exploration projects, Indigenous partnerships, workforce development, and infrastructure planning across northern Manitoba.

The Province of Manitoba’s recent announcement of a feasibility study with the Canada Infrastructure Bank, supported by MMDF funding, underscored how strategic investment can unlock long-term opportunities for the province. MMDF’s approach is not only about funding projects but about helping communities lead them.

With sponsorship support from MMDF and other partners, CCMEC 2025 proved to be more than a convention. It was a showcase of collaboration, innovation, and shared purpose driving the next generation of mining and mineral development in Central Canada.

The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and MMDF extend thanks to the organizers, speakers, and attendees who made CCMEC 2025 such a success. The energy and optimism shared at the event will continue to fuel progress in Manitoba’s growing mineral sector.
