The governments of Canada and Manitoba reinforced their commitment to support those affected by the wildfires through a donation-matching initiative with the Canadian Red Cross.
Through this initiative, both the federal government and provincial government will match every dollar donated to the Canadian Red Cross 2025 Manitoba Wildfires Appeal.
For each appeal, every $1 donated will become $3 to support the families and individuals most impacted by wildfires. Donation matching will be open for 30 days, retroactive to when each appeal first opened on May 28.
The federal government will match donations up to $30 million and the provincial government will match donations up to $15 million.
The funds raised will be used to assist those impacted in Manitoba with immediate and ongoing relief including financial assistance, support to evacuees and the communities hosting them, recovery and resilience efforts in response to the wildfires, as well as supporting community preparedness and risk reduction for future all-hazard disaster events within Manitoba.
Thousands of Manitobans have been displaced as wildfires continue to threaten communities across the province. In response, the Canadian Red Cross is working closely with Indigenous leadership and all levels of government to provide emergency accommodations, personal services and critical information to people who have been forced from their homes.
The governments of Canada and Manitoba are committed to continued doing everything they can to support all those affected.
