A New Era of Trade and Opportunity: Passage of Bill 47 a Chamber Win

Jun 3, 2025

A Message from the CEO of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce

Today marks a significant milestone for Manitoba’s business community and for our province as a whole. With the passage of Bill 47 – the Fair Trade in Canada (Internal Trade Mutual Recognition) Act – we are witnessing the power of collaboration and shared vision in action.

On behalf of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, I want to extend our sincere appreciation to all members of the Legislative Assembly for coming together across party lines in support of this transformative legislation. Your collective commitment to reducing interprovincial trade barriers sends a strong and unified message: Manitoba is open for business, and we are ready to lead.

This bill is more than just policy – it is a promise to Manitoba entrepreneurs, workers, and families that their voices are being heard, and their opportunities are being expanded. By enabling freer movement of goods, and services across Canada, Bill 47 strengthens our economy and positions Manitoba as a leader in internal trade.

This is a win for Manitoba and for our Chamber network, and a testament to what we can achieve when we work together.

Let’s continue to build on this momentum – for a stronger, more connected, and more prosperous Manitoba.
