Construction kicked off on a gold mine near the town of Lynn Lake this week – the first new mine in Manitoba in 15 years, and one of the dozens of projects supported by the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce’s Manitoba Mineral Development Fund.
The ambitious initiative by Alamos Gold is set to begin with the development of two primary gold deposits, revitalizing the historic MacLellan and Gordon mines and bringing new opportunities and growth to the region.
Hundreds of New Jobs
The project’s two mine sites and work camp are projected to generate more than 600 construction jobs over the project’s two-year construction phase and sustain approximately 450 jobs during its operation, including training and hiring northern Manitobans, the province announced.
MCC’s provincially funded Manitoba Mineral Development Fund (MMDF) provided a $300,000 nonrepayable grant to support this significant project. This financial backing underscores our dedication to fostering economic development and job creation in Manitoba, and helps enhance the overall economic landscape of Manitoba.
