New Report on Women in Business Aligns with 2025 International Women’s Day Theme

Mar 8, 2025

A new report from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Business Data Lab (BDL) examining the status of women entrepreneurs in Canada outlines actionable steps for government, financial institutions, and industry leaders to accelerate progress – aligning well with the 2025 International Women’s Day theme, “Accelerate Action.”

Despite some progress, significant barriers remain, limiting economic growth and innovation, says the report on women in business, Women Entrepreneurs: Canada’s Biggest Missed Business Opportunity.

Building on the BDL’s 2024 report, Barely Breaking Ground: The Slow Stride of Progress for Women in Business Leadership and Entrepreneurship, this new instalment of this research highlights persistent challenges in female entrepreneurship, including representation and compensation gaps.

The report offers key insights into the current landscape of women entrepreneurs and women-owned businesses, as well as the primary barriers that limit women’s entrepreneurial potential, including structural biases, limited access to financing, and underrepresentation in key sectors.
