Chambers Connect with Provincial Policy Makers at Annual Advocacy Day

Dec 6, 2024

The Manitoba Chamber Network gathered for our annual Chamber Advocacy Day on Wednesday, December 4, to share priorities, ideas, and challenges facing Manitoba’s business community.

Chamber Advocacy Day serves as an opportunity for Manitoba’s local chambers of commerce to meet with Cabinet Ministers and Members of the Legislative Assembly, to advocate on behalf of business, and to discuss issues that are important in their regions. With this initiative, we provide an opportunity for chambers to advance local issues that are important to them and their communities in an informal setting, as we help to facilitate conversations with decision-makers at the provincial level.

This year’s meetings at the Manitoba Legislature fostered discussions on many different issues, including infrastructure plans and capital investments; immigration and credential recognition; an economic development strategy for Manitoba focused on productivity; labour force challenges and the importance of a robust child care system; and addressing the out-migration of youth by promoting the Manitoba Advantage and positioning our province as a place where young people can build successful careers.

We were pleased to meet with a broad range of elected officials, including:

  • The Honourable Wab Kinew, Premier of Manitoba
  • Honourable Ron Kostyshyn, Minister of Agriculture
  • Honourable Lisa Naylor, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure
  • Honourable Tracy Schmidt, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Acting Minister of Education and Early Childhood Learning
  • Honourable Glen Simard, Minister of Municipal and Northern Relations
  • Honourable Mintu Sandhu, Minister of Public Service Delivery
  • Honourable Nellie Kennedy, Minister of Sport, Culture, Heritage, and Tourism
  • Honourable Adrien Sala, Minister of Finance
  • Honourable Matt Wiebe, Minister of Justice and Attorney General
  • Honourable Jamie Moses, Minister of Business, Mining, Trade, and Job Creation
  • Honourable Mayala Marcelina, Minister of Labour and Immigration
  • Honourable Ian Bushie, Minister of Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures
  • Wayne Ewasko, Interim Leader of the Official Opposition and Members of the Progressive Conservative Caucus

Meetings with provincial decisionmakers allow us to establish a strong foundation for collaboration between the Manitoba Chamber Network and the provincial government. On behalf of the Manitoba Chamber Network, thank you to all Members of the Legislative Assembly who took the time to meet with us.
