Federal Funding Helps Businesses and Organizations Adopt and Build AI Tools

Oct 28, 2024

Is your business using AI tools – or maybe even creating them? Businesses in Manitoba and other prairie provinces can now access federal funding to help them adopt AI (Artificial Intelligence) and bring new technologies and solutions to market.

The Government of Canada is investing $200 million over five years for Canada’s regional development agencies, including PrairiesCan, to deliver the Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative (RAII). Manitoban businesses, as well as not-for-profit organizations supporting businesses to develop, demonstrate and commercialize AI applications and solutions, can now apply for funding through PrairiesCan, whose share of the funding is $33.8 million.

“AI presents a powerful opportunity for Prairie businesses to innovate, strengthen productivity and remain competitive for years to come,” said The Honourable Dan Vandal, Minister for PrairiesCan, as part of the government’s announcement. “The Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative will support businesses on the Prairies bring new technologies to market and succeed in the global economy.”

Applications are being accepted until December 31, 2028. For more information or to apply, visit the PrairiesCan web page.
