Chamber Win: 2024/25 Provincial Budget Promises More Doctors

Apr 16, 2024

Yesterday, Dr. Michael Boroditsky, President of Doctors Manitoba, wrote an opinion piece for the Winnipeg Free Press applauding the provincial government’s pledge to add 100 physicians to the province this year. This announcement from the province, comes after years of joint advocacy from the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and Doctors Manitoba. This partnership, which began in 2022 with the Rural & Northern Health Summit and resulted in a report featuring five specific recommendations for the government to attract and retain physicians across Manitoba.

It’s important to involve other players who can help too, such as local municipalities and the business community. We have to not only recruit physicians, but their families, too. This was a key recommendation coming out of the Rural Health Summit we hosted over a year ago in partnership with the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce.” said Dr. Boroditsky.
