MCC at Western Canada Economic Forum

Jan 29, 2024

Manitoba Chambers of Commerce President and CEO, Chuck Davidson, and Prairies Can CEO, Diane Gray, were some of the only representatives from Manitoba at the inaugural Western Canada Economic Forum held last week in Calgary.

The forum, which drew more than 200 business, indigenous, and government leaders from across Western Canada, was convened to discuss how a robust Western Canadian economy contributes to the overall strength of the Canadian economy and to foster new partnerships for growth.

As part of a panel featuring CEOs from both the Saskatchewan and Alberta Chambers of Commerce and the Alberta Business Council, Davidson underscored Manitoba’s strengths in critical minerals, manufacturing, agri-food, and the green economy as key opportunities for growth.

Margo Cathcart, CEO of Rural Manitoba Economic Development Corporation (RMED), and Kay Gardiner, Program Director of the Digital Manitoba Initiative, also represented the Manitoba business community at the event.
