CPHR Manitoba is the exclusive certifying body in Manitoba for the nationally recognized Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation – the leading standard for HR professionals in Canada. Our mission is to advance the human resources profession. We work to achieve that by promoting the brand and supporting CPHRs in their professional development to foster public confidence in the designation and demonstrate the value of HR to business. 

What is a CPHR? 

The CPHR designation represents a commitment to a national standard of excellence and sets a benchmark for the practice of effective human resources. It emphasizes the strategic role of HR management in business and plays an important role in securing HR’s position as an equal business partner at the executive table. 

Are CPHRs self-regulated? 

In June 2023, The Chartered Professionals in Human Resources Act was passed, self-regulating the HR profession in Manitoba. This Act validates the strategic expertise that HR professionals provide to employers and employees and gives CPHR Manitoba the regulated authority to ensure that its members uphold best HR practice and standards in Manitoba workplaces. 

What does it mean to be a CPHR? 

The CPHR designation signifies that an HR professional has achieved and continues to actively demonstrate mastery of the CPHR Competency Framework. Through a national examination and assessment process, each CPHR designate must demonstrate the core competencies relevant to the HR profession. 

The CPHR designation can enhance career opportunities and compensation potential. An increasing number of organizations require or prefer that successful candidates for HR positions hold, or are working towards obtaining, the CPHR designation. This is particularly true for senior HR positions.
