Climate Action for Business: Training and Experience Sharing Forums
The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce 2023 Climate Action Forum Series is designed to help build awareness and capacity among Manitoba’s small-and-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) for enhancing resilience to climate change and achieving carbon reductions.
In collaboration with Novel Futures, the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association, and the International Institute for Sustainable Development, we are pleased to offer several virtual and in-person opportunities for businessesto learn new approaches and share what they are doing to assess climate risk and enhance resilience, reduce carbon emissions via the circular economy, and use nature-based solutions.
MCC President & CEO, Chuck Davidson says, “At first glance, taking climate action may seem like a daunting endeavour for a small or medium-sized business, but it doesn’t need to be. We believe it is so important to create spaces for business leaders to enhance their capacity and to connect with other businesses, learning from one another’s challenges and successes.” He adds, “this year’s initiative is a derivative of the Climate Action Toolkit for Manitoba Business we undertook in 2019 and will provide updated resources and tools to support our business community in adapting to climate change.”
The in-person business training and experience sharing forums are taking place in collaboration with local chambers of commerce, and the virtual sessions are a collaboration with our partner associations, including the Women’s Enterprise Centre and the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association. The insights gleaned from the forums will help to inform a new set of resources and tools to help SMEs identify ways to reduce carbon emissions and increase resilience to climate change. Forums are free to attend, but registration is required.
