The FDC Regional Economic Development Commission (the “Commission”) is pleased to launch the region’s very first investment and tourism attraction online portal (http://www.investfdc.ca). With funding from the Manitoba Mineral Development Fund (“MMDF”), and consultancy support from Richard+Wintrup, the online portal has been meticulously crafted to provide the Flin Flon region with the tool to guide and facilitate investments that align with its vision and foster planned diversification. The online portal integrates a strategic value proposition along with an automated site navigator to promote investments and drive visitation to the Flin Flon region.
Year 2022 marks the inception of a transformative period for the Flin Flon region. The region is poised to ride on this momentum and continue its efforts in driving economic diversification by honing and expanding its established presence as a strategic hub, servicing both communities and industries in northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The region will continue to bank on its distinctive values to engage, nurture and promote the unique advantages of business and life in the North. There is an abundance of green energy, clean water and an educated workforce which are very important aspects that need to be promoted nationally and globally. The investment and tourism attraction online portal is critical to driving this transformation and leading planned development for the Flin Flon region.
About the MMDF
The MMDF is a program dedicated to funding projects that grow and diversify regional economies in northern Manitoba. The MMDF prioritizes initiatives that demonstrate long-term sustainability and economic impact in communities that are vulnerable to changes in the mining industry. The MMDF is a provincial fund that is administered by the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce.
About the Commission
The Commission is a municipal government arm which provides strategic leadership in economic development initiatives undertaken on behalf of three communities across two provinces: the City of Flin Flon, the Town of Creighton, and the Village of Denare Beach. The Commission is structured with the aim to continuously improve its region’s capacity in fostering sustainable development, paralleled by planned efforts in guiding economic diversification.
