MMDF: Check out our new website & tools

Dec 13, 2021

A MESSAGE FROM JESSICA FERRIS, MMDF PROGRAM MANAGER
The Manitoba Mineral Development Fund, an initiative of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce funded since July 2020, has been working on some new and exciting things! We wanted to create a space to share more about northern projects, stories, and economic development info in Manitoba – and what better place to start than by creating a new website!
MMDFs new website is officially live and will act as a hub for information on program updates, approved projects, and community/industry resources. It includes an interactive map to view approved projects, their location, and status. It will also have an interactive program dashboard where program stats are shared with you in real-time.
For current or future applicants, we haven’t forgotten about you in the design either! The website has an online application portal to make the funding application process seamless. (Note: hard copy applications are still available for communities that lack internet connectivity.)
Featured on the website will be a couple of other cool initiatives we have been working on:
  • Our new Grant Writing Assistance Program provides financial assistance for early-stage economic development projects initiated by northern communities and/or community-based organizations. Applicants can apply for micro-grants of up to $5,000 to go towards expenses related to project development, proposal writing or application coordination.
  • Also featured on our website will be past recordings of the Manitoba Prospectors and Developers Association’s Rock Circle Radio Show. MMDF has partnered with the organization, along with the Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba, NCI FM, the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association and many others to deliver a radio show that features an open dialogue between the minerals sector, Indigenous communities, and the public on issues related to mining, Indigenous land rights, and more. The show airs on NCI FM every Tuesday at 6pm. Past recordings can be found on MMDF’s website at https://mmdf.ca/resources/industry-and-community-information/
If you have any questions about potential eligibility, the funding application process, or how MMDF staff can work with you to advance a project proposal, contact us any time: https://mmdf.ca/contact-us/
