Representatives for the Hoosier state used part of the week-long visit to the province to meet with the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC) and about 80 guests during a lunch meeting yesterday.
The delegation of Indiana business people and state officials, led by Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch, is in Winnipeg to talk trade, agriculture, and make some valuable connections to expand the state’s business future. In choosing Manitoba for their visit, Crouch told the audience it was our shared common values that made their decision. Two-way trade between Manitoba and Indiana total over $1.1 billion, making it one of our top trading partners.

For much of the summer, MCC has been touring U.S. State Chambers of Commerce to tout the importance of trade partnerships between our countries, and the need to explore and expand business opportunities that benefit local businesses. That message was echoed by the Lieutenant Governor and Indiana Director for the Department of Agriculture Bruce Kettler. He told the attendees the business of business doesn’t stop and trade is between people, and extends well past the negotiation table of trade agreements.
Earlier in the day, the delegation met with ag minister Ralph Eichler to sign a memorandum of understanding focused on supporting and expanding agriculture partnerships.
