#MeetAMember: KIDTHINK and the 2nd Annual Radio-thon for Kids Mental Health

Apr 18, 2022

Be sure to tune in on Friday, May 6th for the KIDTHINK Radio–thon for Kids Mental Health! Together, we can reach KIDTHINK’s goal of raising $150,000 for children’s mental health treatment and reducing the stigma attached to mental health treatment.

92.7 CKJS, ENERGY 106, and HOT 100.5 will be broadcasting live from 6am – 6pm on May 6th to raise awareness and funds for KIDTHINK. Listen in and find out more about how you can help bridge the gap in children’s mental health services.

BECOME A SPONSOR:

KIDTHINK’s radio station partners will be recognizing sponsors both leading up to May 6th as well as throughout the day. For Champion and Ambassador sponsors, the opportunity to participate in a live interview on May 6th will be available.

HOLD A FUNDRAISER:

Holding a community fundraiser is a great way to support the KIDTHINK Radio-thon. Beyond raising funds for KIDTHINK services, community fundraisers are incredibly effective at building awareness for KIDTHINK activities and combating the stigma linked to mental health treatment.

Need some ideas? Here are two successful fundraisers that were held last year:

  • The Bridge Drive-In introduced a KIDTHINK Cone where 100% of the proceeds went to KIDTHINK.
  • 5% of all Jenna Rae Cakes cupcake sales purchased during the month of May were donated to KIDTHINK.

If you would like to start your fundraiser, become a sponsor, or have any questions, please contact KIDTHINK at [email protected]

What is KIDTHINK?

Kidthink Children’s Mental Health Centre Inc. (KIDTHINK) is a non-profit children’s mental health centre located in Manitoba that received its charitable status in January of 2019. We are passionate about prevention and early intervention of mental health and addiction challenges. We operate as a holistic centre that identifies and enhances the child’s entire support system by focussing on the following:

CLINICAL: KIDTHINK takes an evidence-based approach to offer assessment as well as treatment programs and services that are proven to be most effective. The initial focus is on anxiety, depression, behavioural issues, ADHD, and learning difficulties/disabilities. KIDTHINK’s approach is strength-based, trauma-informed and can include unique, intensive therapy options, when applicable, for those willing and able to dedicate time for an intensive program.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: KIDTHINK provides outreach services within the child’s community with a primary focus on training parents, teachers, coaches and pediatricians to better identify and interact with children 12 years old and under with mental illnesses. This multidisciplinary-team approach will empower the community with the knowledge to better address each child’s individual needs.

RESEARCH: KIDTHINK recognizes that all areas of child and youth mental health must be built on the best available research. Our team collaborates with researchers in the areas of early intervention and prevention of the onset of mental illness. KIDTHINK uses knowledge gathered from research to facilitate the development of materials, programs, and activities for children, families and the community.
