Selfie Snapshots & Radio Trivia: Flin Flon & District Chamber of Commerce
From September 20, 2021 to November 15, 2021, with funding from Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and the Province of Manitoba, the Flin Flon & District Chamber purchased and awarded $4,500 in gift certificates purchased from local businesses during their Love Local Radio Contest. Included were businesses from Flin Flon, Creighton, and Denare Beach.
According to chamber office manager, Michelle Reid, the selfie frames the team produced were a huge hit with both the chamber’s members and their followers on social media.
“The whole promotion was a lot of fun and the best part was connecting with our members for their ‘photo-shoot.’ We asked the public to call into the local radio station during the contest time and answer a multiple choice trivia question about the featured business of the day. If the individual answered it correctly, they won a $100 gift certificate from that business.”
The contest ran daily except Sundays over two months, featuring 46 Chamber businesses. The radio station, 102.9 CFAR, reported that their phones rang off the wall for the contest with lots of listeners wanting to play!
The grand prize was sponsored by Flin Flon Credit Union, Flin Flon RBC, The City of Flin Flon, The Town of Creighton, and the Village of Denare Beach.
“Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we finished off with a big bang, awarding $500 in cash to one business, Dee’s Hairstyling, and $500 to their winner – Bonnie Haygarth. Both were so grateful and excited.”
Reid says she would love to be able to do this type of give-away again.
“It truly was a win-win for everyone and reminded us all why ‘local businesses are the heartbeat of our community.'”
