The Manitoba Building Officials Association (MBOA) has been an active organization within the construction and inspection industry for close to 60 years. The MBOA is a non-profit, self-governing association of well over 225 members who are dedicated to promoting the advancement of knowledge in the field of building construction. Our membership contains a comprehensive knowledge base in code interpretation, plans examination as well as real world applications of the building construction industry.

The MBOA exists to promote building safety and performance through professional training, public awareness and partnering with regulatory bodies to advance national codes and standards. As part of this mandate, we offer district forums, semi-annual educational seminars and an annual trade show.

We strive to provide our members with a platform to stay current with new products and materials as well as offering hands-on opportunities with manufactures to debut those products at our trades shows. Additionally, we work closely with our educational providers to ensure that as the codes, standards and available products change, that this information is widely available within our educational materials.

Our association creates unique forums to discuss and resolve common problems within our discipline as well as strives to build a sense of community for those within the building construction and inspection professions.

The membership represents many facets of business and industry, with members holding diverse backgrounds that work closely with local planning districts and municipalities in Manitoba. Currently, our membership consists of Building Inspectors, Architects, Engineers, Plan Examiners, Insurance Underwriters, Fire Prevention officers and Industry Representatives. However, the MBOA welcomes enquiries from prospective members in its desire to be of service to both the individual and to the building industry.

Membership in the MBOA is available to individuals, firms, corporations, associations, governments, and government agencies.
