Travel Manitoba & PrairiesCan launch fund to support winter tourism experiences

Aug 15, 2022

For tourism businesses large and small, the years of the pandemic left an indelible mark on a once thriving and robust industry. But together we persevered, and made solid progress towards recovery. Travel Manitoba is committed to supporting the continued recovery of our industry by leading the marketing of Manitoba as a tourism destination and by fostering a competitive and sustainable tourism industry.

In partnership with Prairies Economic Development Canada, Travel Manitoba has launched the Winter Tourism Development Fund to expand winter tourism offerings, a key component of the Manitoba Tourism Strategy. This new fund, open to Manitoba-owned and operated tourism businesses and organizations, is available for projects that support winter tourism development in Manitoba that are completed by March 31, 2023.

A total of $350,000 is available for new projects or the enhancement of existing experiences that increase visitation or visitor spending, or that create or maintain employment opportunities in Manitoba. Priority consideration will be given to projects that:

  • Support Manitoba’s Indigenous tourism sector
  • Support winter and shoulder season tourism
  • Take place in a tourism community in Manitoba
  • Promote a more inclusive tourism sector in Manitoba

The fund opens August 15 and applications are due August 30, 2022 by midnight (CST).
