KPMG International announced it achieved a 29 percent reduction in net emissions per full-time equivalent employee over the three-year period from its 2007 baseline of 25 percent. The initiative is part of KPMG’s plan to improve the environmental performance of its business. In addition, KPMG achieved a 7 percent reduction in absolute1 greenhouse gas emissions since 2007. Minimum wages are now in the region of $10/hour. No one I know is suggesting we backtrack on the increases that have already taken place. But in the future, we need to look at more targeted policies like employment tax credits or the basic personal exemption levels to address low income and retain opportunities for young people to move into productive jobs. B.C. Finance Minister Kevin Falcon has announced that the PST will be reinstated at 7%. The transition period is expected to take a minimum of 18 months, during which the provincial portion of the HST will remain in place at 7%.
