At a press conference following the roundtable, Minister Bernier used the opportunity to formally launch Small Business Week® and to announce the recent federal grant earmarking $20 million over two years in funding for CYBF. Today the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) launched a challenge to Canadians to create value out of almost nothing at all. YOU Innovate Canada, a national tournament hosted by CYBF in celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), offers top innovators a share of $25,000 in cash awards generously provided by Studentawards.com and a trip to Liverpool, England to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Congress. In The Spin each finalist will have 10 minutes to present their innovative business idea to a team of experienced judges as the final step in the competition. Following the presentations, the judges will determine which businesses will receive The Spin Master Innovation Fund package, which includes up to $50,000 in start-up financing, a hand-matched innovation mentor and a trip to Toronto on September 23-24 to attend the Spin Master Innovation Fund Launch Pad Workshop. For those who want to take the leap and turn their big idea into a reality, the national call for applications will take place until June 9th, 2011, where the next great business could be eligible to receive a start-up package that includes up to $50,000 in start-up financing provided by CYBF and its affiliate Entrepreneur Gateway Canada.
