TEMPORARY CHILD SERVICES GRANT PROGRAM

With the scaling down of child care centres in the province, many critical service workers, such as frontline health-care providers, are without access to child care. The province is partnering with the Manitoba Chambers and The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce to administer the Temporary Child Care Services Grant for Early Childhood Educators (ECE) II or III or Child Care Assistants (CCA). Service providers can deliver, exempt from licensing, care to up to four (4) children in their home or another appropriate space, or become a licensed homebased provider, and care for up to eight (8) children or in a child care centre setting to care for up to 16 children in combination with another ECE.  The goal is to support ECEs and CCAs as they take the brave step of starting a small business.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS

ECEs and CCAs interested in participating in the Temporary Child Care Services Grant Program should review the Program Description and Criteria and the list of FAQs before completing the online application form.

Upon receipt of completed applications, the Province of Manitoba will review to determine all eligibility criteria are met before funds can be dispersed.  Approved applicants will receive funding of $3,000 to be used for the purchase of essential equipment and supplies.

For questions not answered in the program description or FAQ, please email ecegrant@gov.mb.ca.

CRITICAL SERVICES WORKERS REQUIRING CHILDCARE

Critical services workers (which includes health-care providers, emergency service providers, corrections workers, law enforcement workers, fire and paramedic workers, and direct social services and child protection workers) who have been unable to secure child care services during the COVID-19 crisis should visit the online portal to view availability details, and connect directly with a centre that best suits their needs.

These child care arrangements are temporary for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Critical services workers who have already contacted the Early Learning and Child Care Program by phone or email are not required to follow this step.
