Chambers from across the province joined the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC) takeover of the legislature last week.
The reason for the all day visit centred around MCC’s first Day of Advocacy. Chambers from Morden, Brandon, Neepawa, The Pas, Dauphin, Assiniboia, Portage la Prairie, Winnipeg, and Steinbach met with minister’s and opposition leaders to share concerns, tackle issues, and opened up possible areas for future work together.
Recommendations in areas of taxation, venture capital funding, and improving labour market information in the province highlighted MCC’s agenda. Local Chambers shared growing concerns of businesses in rural Manitoba on the length of time it takes to get hydro hookups, examining the rural planning act, and water issues impacting agriculture in the north. The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce would like to thank our local chambers for their interest in the inaugural day of advocacy, and to our elected officials who took part in the fruitful discussions.
