You will find a detailed policy analysis that you can use to develop your own submission to Finance Canada, something we strongly encourage you to do.
You can also consult the resolution, Stop the Harmful Tax Changes on Private Corporations, that AGM delegates approved.
We’ve developed simplified key messages for members and the media.
Our content and engagement hub, ProtectGrowth.ca, will be ready to go shortly; when ready, we will advise. This site will be regularly updated as we continue to build it out.
In the meantime, we have updated the Hot Topic: Corporate Taxes page of Chamber.ca to include the following:
Update on the Coalition for Small Tax Fairness
A second letter from this coalition was issued to Minister Morneau. Please read the press release and letter. Both of these can be shared through your network and through your social media channels. Please remember to use the hashtag #ProtectGrowth in all of your online posts.
Here are a few things the Canadian Chamber is asking of the Manitoba Chamber Network:
Viral video campaign
Please be sure to send us the videos of the personal stories of your small business owners so we can post them to the campaign website and send them out through our social media channels. Each video should be about one minute in length and be taken in front of the business owner’s location if possible. These videos do not need to be fancy and can be recorded on an iPhone or similar device. In fact, we want to want this to keep campaign and its content as real as possible. Please send videos to email@example.com. They will be released over the course of the #ProtectGrowth campaign.
Your own chamber initiatives
We have been receiving updates from a number of you on some of the initiatives you have been executing, including meetings with political officials, social media campaigns etc. It’s great to see all the excellent work you are doing.
I want to draw your attention to a generous offer from the Mission Chamber of Commerce (BC); they conducted a postcard campaign and are willing to share the artwork. Please see the postcard that you could use with your own campaign/MP.
We want to post these initiatives to the campaign website and we want to also promote them through our social media channels. So, please be sure to send us your updates to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have a social media campaign, please don’t forget to tag and use the #ProtectGrowth hashtag.
Social media amplification
To amplify activities and announcements, we ask that you “like” and “share” using the #ProtectGrowth hashtag and include the Canadian Chamber’s Twitter handle @CdnChamberofCom.
As you know, Canadian Chamber President and CEO Perrin Beatty is highly active on Twitter. If you are not already following him, we encourage you to do so; his handle is @PerrinBeatty and “like” and “retweet” his posts, using hashtag #ProtectGrowth.
Together we are stronger as we fight these proposed changes. Your participation and collaboration is truly a demonstration of the power of our chamber network.
