Skills Connect Inc. Announces Officers and Directors

The second annual general meeting of the Skills Connect Inc. board of directors was held June 20, 2014 in Winnipeg.

Continuing with the goal of seeking directors in Canadian geographic areas where Skills Connect Inc. has targeted to expand its services, Board Chair, Frank Sottana is pleased to announce the following officers and directors have been elected:

The following officers were elected for the 2014-2015 year:

  • Frank Sottana, Chair
  • Michael Selci, Vice-Chair
  • Regan Windsor, Treasurer
  • Remo DeSordi, Secretary and Legal Counsel
  • Tim Jones, President/CEO (ex-officio)

The following directors were elected for the 2014-2015 year:

  • Ken Thomas
  • Remo Desordi
  • Wadood Ibrahim
  • Dr. Marie Bountrogianni, Ontario

Frank Sottana has been with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce for more than 25 years. He is currently CIBC’s Regional Vice President, Mobile Sales Force for central Canada. In addition to his role with ThirdQuarter Frank is an active member of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce.

Michael Selci is Vice President of Financing and Consulting with the Business Development Bank of Canada. He has a degree in Business Administration, several industry designations including CSC, CFP, RMA and most recently completed an Executive Leadership Development program at Queen’s University.

Regan Windsor is the Manager of Agreements Management with Manitoba Hydro where she has held several senior positions since 2006.  She earned an MBA from Laurentian University as well as several professional designations including CGA. A past-president of CGA Manitoba, she continues to play an active role with that organization.

Ken Thomas serves as Controller with Bridge Road Development. He has extensive experience in leadership and strategic planning in both the transportation and construction sectors and graduated with a diploma in Business Administration from Red River College.

Wadood Ibrahim is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Winnipeg-based, business performance consulting and IT solutions firm Protegra Inc. In addition to his role with ThirdQuarter, Wadood also sits on the boards of Travel Manitoba, and both the Winnipeg and Manitoba Chambers of Commerce.

Remo DeSordi is a partner in Taylor McCaffrey LLP in Winnipeg where he advises an array of business clients. He is active in community affairs as Chair of the Southern European Immigration Initiative with the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program and has served as president of the Italian Cultural Centre of Manitoba.

Dr. Marie Bountrogianni is the dean of The Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson University. An educational psychologist, Bountrogianni is the former Ontario cabinet minister, whose vision and drive were instrumental in making the ground-breaking Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act a reality.

Founded in 2010 by the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, Skills Connect Inc. owns  and operates as ThirdQuarter, Canada’s recruiter for people aged 45 and over. We have a national mandate to help fill the skills-gap facing Canadian businesses. Our goal is to promote the many talents and multi-faceted abilities of Canada’s experienced workforce.
