Incorporated in 1973, the Certified General Accountants Association of Manitoba (CGA Manitoba) is a self-regulating, professional association of over 3600 students and Certified General Accountants – CGAs.
CGA Manitoba delivers CGA Canada’s world renowned program of professional studies and confers the professional designation, CGA, on those attaining the Association’s rigorous certification standards. To achieve the CGA designation, students must develop and demonstrate leading edge technical, professional, and ethical competencies through the completion of CGA’s degree, education, and experiential requirements.
In the public interest, the Association rigorously enforces its members’ adherence to the CGA Code of Ethical Principles and Rules of Conduct, Independence Standard, Public Practice Entrance and Continuance Standards, and mandatory continuing professional development requirement.
Working as business advisers and leaders in public practice, industry, government, and the not-for-profit sector, CGAs provide a wide variety of services, from financial management to assurance and taxation expertise to management consulting.
To protect the public interest, CGAs must adhere to the highest standard of professional and ethical conduct, meet prescribed standards, and remain true to the intention of the designation’s founders — to “encourage improvement” in accountancy.
Those who earn the right to use this designation have a duty at all times to conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner in serving clients, employers, and the public.
