It’s a tremendous time for travel but there is much more we can do. That was the one of the opening lines during Travel Manitoba President and CEO Colin Ferguson’s keynote address to a packed room at the Inn at the Forks.
With issues being raised about the tourism industry and calls for a more focused approach to deal with, what should be an economic pillar, the time was right for the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce breakfast series to have Mr. Ferguson in to talk at length about the industry within Manitoba.
Ferguson did just that by laying out Travel Manitoba’s aggressive, yet reachable objectives for the next few years. He also talked about the amount of jobs and potential income are related to the Manitoba economy and how much more can be done with strategic investments towards creating a more competitive province from a tourism perspective. He also provided some hints on a new campaign by Travel Manitoba and announced the full plan and brand re-launch will be announced on December 12 of this year.
The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce has made no secret of our support for the tourism industry and believe there needs to be a strong, unified voice for business and industry alike. Travel Manitoba has an aggressive and well thought out approach to improve Manitoba tourism player. We will continue to add our voice, support and facilitate any conversation that will help attain those goals. As Mr. Ferguson said today, we have a wonderful and beautiful province. It’s time we started to showcase it and talk proudly about where we call home.
