Chamber Meets with Manitoba Finance Minister

Oct 7, 2013 | Chamber News, Government News

Late last week, a contingent led by Chamber President and CEO Chuck Davidson met with Manitoba’s Finance Minister, Stan Struthers, to discuss policy resolutions passed at our AGM in May.

At the table, Mr. Davidson shared the Chambers thoughts on pressing issues like the PST increase. He also brought to the attention of the Minister the Brandon Chambers interest in an update on the North West Partnership, Winnipeg’s plans for a comprehensive Venture Capital strategy for the province and how the business community can play a larger role in per-budget discussions.

While not committing to our resolutions, the groundwork for further discussion was laid, with an invitation for further conversation and input from Manitoba businesses. Minister Struthers explained the government’s position in regards to the PST increase and made it clear he would like to hear from us and work with us moving forward.
