Chamber Staff and Members Gather for 2013 Canadian Chamber AGM

Sep 29, 2013 | Chamber News

On an annual basis in the fall Chamber staff and volunteers gather for the Canadian Chamber of Canada (CCC) Annual General Meeting at a Canadian city to discuss policies that affect the business community.

Prior to the CCC AGM, the Canadian Chamber Executives of Canada (CCEC) also holds an Annual General Meeting that provides Chamber staff with an opportunity to network and share ideas with other Chamber managers from across Canada.

This year, Manitoba had staff and volunteers from Assiniboia, Brandon, Portage la Prairie, Winkler, Winnipeg and the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce take part in the Conference held in Kelowna, BC.

This year’s Conference focused on “A Canada that Works and Plays” paying particular attention to the workforce challenges facing employers in Canada and the challenges facing the Canadian Tourism industry which has fallen behind in the past number of years.

The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce will be paying particular attention to both of these areas and will be developing policy committees to address issues in these areas from a Manitoba perspective in the coming months.

In addition, I am pleased to announce that Brandon Chamber of Commerce General Manager Carolynn Cancade and I have been named to the CCEC Board of Directors.

You can expect a full wrap-up and update in the next MBiz Weekly and our website.
