Career Opportunity: Employer Engagement Consultant

Reporting directly to the AMSC Executive Coordinator, this full-time position serves as a cross-sector employer engagement consultant by serving as an integrator for Manitoba sector councils and the businesses and industries that they represent.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  1. Perform employer workforce and human resource development needs assessments;
  2. Facilitate integrated service delivery responses to meet employers workforce development needs;
  3. Provide direct workforce development consulting services to employers;
  4. Define, develop and manage identified activities to ensure service excellence to participating employers, business and industry;
  5. Engage and recruit employers to participate in cross-sector career and workforce development programs and events;
  6. Coordinate employer focus groups, roundtable events and forums to support the accomplishments of the network of Manitoba Sector Councils and the Minister’s Advisory Council on Workforce Development;
  7. Promote the value of Manitoba’s sector council program to business, industry, education and government;
  8. Research and analysis current workforce development programs, initiatives and Intel and prepare synthesized reports;
  9. Perform program follow-up and evaluation functions;



  •   Post secondary education specializing in Human Resources, Labour Studies and/or an equivalent  combination of related education, training and experience;
  •    3-5 years of experience in business / employer engagement, direct marketing, needs assessment and program referral;
  •    Comprehensive knowledge of Labour Market development conditions, issues and practices;
  •    Strong oral and written communication skills, including facilitation skills required;
  •    Excellent customer-service skills with the ability to build, foster and maintain relationships;
  •    Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines and changing priorities;
  •    Skilled in identifying, defining and analyzing problems and developing alternatives and solutions regarding workforce and human resource development;
  •    Strong organizational and project management skills;
  •    Ability to work collaboratively, cooperatively and productively with others to achieve desired results;

  •    Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and exercise initiative in a complex work environment with  high volume caseloads
  •    Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  •    Ability to recognize and identify problems
  •    Proficient digital technology skills
  •    Dedicated to continuous learning
  •    Valid driver’s license and the use of a personal vehicle for business purposes are required


Terms of Employment

This is a six month term position with opportunity for extension which is subject to funding approval. It includes a competitive salary, phone and mileage allowance.

Hours of Work: Normal office hours of operation are based on a 37.5 hour work week, typically Monday thru Friday with flexible start and end times between 7:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
