CCEC 2012 Annual Conference – Sept 20-22 – Hamilton

The Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada is a professional development organization for Chamber executives. Our job is to make your job easier!  With that goal in mind, our annual conference in September offers a program of speakers and events that will help you develop in your role in Chamber management. This year’s theme . . .

The Challenge to Change

The only constant is change and it’s important that progressive Chambers are ahead of the curve. Our conference committee, led by Imelda Gilman, has been busy developing a program that you will not want to miss, with keynote speakers preparing you to embrace change and forge ahead.

We’re excited to have an overall event sponsor this year, Citslinc, who will be drawing for a complimentary trip to China so that you can  assess this popular revenue generating opportunity for your Chamber.

The conference starts the evening of Thursday, September 20th with an opening reception sponsored by TD where you’ll have a chance meet new Chamber execs and renew acquaintances with friends and colleagues,  plus a pre-conference session on Chamber accreditation.

Dr. Chris Bart – one of Canada’s leading governance thinkers, kicks off the conference on Friday morning and will provide a review of governance best practices and advice designed to help Chamber execs  cope with the governance avalanche currently overwhelming them and their Boards.

Joe Pampena and Eloise Pasianotto will tackle the topics of  leadership, effective communications and managing change, allowing you to become a better manager. Register by July 15th and receive a personal assessment of your communication and leadership style.

Saturday morning offers a perspective on the changes facing Chambers –  a macro look with ACCE President & CEO Mick Fleming who will address Chamber mega trends – and a micro look when we hear from Chamber members and father & son duo Derek & Eric Johannson on how the role of  the Chamber has changed moving from one generation to the next.

Plus our ever-popular bear pit, our Friday night Awards Dinner  (sponsored by Johnston Group and Chambers of Commerce Group Benefit Programs) and a ton of informal networking in-between! Check out the attached conference brochure for all the details. And if budget is an issue, you may also be interested in CCEC’s bursary program. (CCEC will make up to $1000 available to attend the conference.)

When you register, it would be appreciated if you would note any meals that you are NOT planning to attend. This allows us to keep our costs in check.  Over the course of the conference, you’ll have the chance to visit the  Hamilton Chamber’s brand new premises, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, as well as take in local cuisine. Yes, back by popular demand is our Peer Networking Dinner on Thursday night. If you plan to attend, select your restaurant of choice when you register.

Room blocks have been reserved at the Sheraton Hamilton (see CCC website for details

Reserve your spot now and ensure that your travel plans have you in Hamilton in time for Thursday evening opening events. If you are attending the Canadian Chamber annual convention anyway, do yourself a favor and take in the CCEC conference immediately preceding the start of the CCC event. Or register for CCEC as a stand-alone event.

If you are not already a CCEC member, you are still welcome to attend the conference. But now may be a good time to join, so that you can take advantage of preferred member pricing. Our membership brochure and application form are also attached.
