Morden & District Chamber of Commerce Announces Business Award Finalists

November 3, 2011, the Morden & District Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 2nd Awards Gala at the Timber’s Restaurant.  The guest speaker will be Ron Buist the guru behind rrrrroll up the rim to win.  You will not want to miss this event, to purchase tickets call 204-822-5630.  $125/ticket or $1000 for a table. 

The award categories are once again:  Innovation, Marketing Excellence, Customer Service Excellence and  Community Influence.  The nominees for these awards are:

Community Influence Award

Given to members of our community who have led a lifetime committed to business growth in Morden.  People who have understood that business growth goes hand-in-hand with volunteering in and supporting the various community functions.  Their ability to create vision and share that vision with others builds influence that you know will create impact beyond their lifetime.  Mentoring and encouraging others to succeed has been a part of their gift and influence to this community.   This year’s nominees are:

The unique design of their waste bin has created an easy and safe way for people to dispose of their e-waste.

Pembina Hills Art Gallery and Gift Store

The uniqueness of their gallery and gift shop is evident.  This art gallery thrives and boasts local product from many different mediums.  Their slogan, “Shop local, buy original”, is one example of their ingenuity.  Innovative concepts and programming such as:  The Artist’s Studio tour and The Corn and Apple Art Walk engage the public and create both a clientele for their products and a future for their art.


For diversifying products in order to serve their clients, while maintaining the target audience and brand.  This year alone Velocity added a sport line of clothing with Switchboard and a coffee and juice bar with Mountain Café.

Exceptional Thymes Catering

The foresight to put a stand in the Farmer’s Market to get people tasting their food while promoting their catering business.  Great marketing tool!

Gaslight Harley-Davidson Sales

Visibility and constant communication is often the key to good marketing and gaining a new customers – this year Gaslight has achieved this!  Everywhere you turn you see Gaslight and hear about what they are doing.  Events and initiatives like: The Car Show, The grand entrance during the opening ceremonies of the Corn & Apple festival, the continuous radio campaign, supporting the CFDC and having their logo on the Dig-site Van have simply raised the awareness and recognition of Gaslight Harley –Davidson Sales.

Quilter’s Den

Simply Divine, walk into the store and be greeted with an amazing display of artistry and talent.  The online marketing campaign continues to grow, their ability to create partnerships in the community with “Artist Eye” is very evident…. simply a business that knows its products and can communicate them accurately to the target audience.

Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre

Over the past year, the CFDC has elevated the awareness of the museum significantly both locally and globally.  Through online, media/dignitary familiarization tours and partnerships CFDC will soon find the tipping point.
