MTS is pleased to announce that it will be the exclusive distributor of the locally produced documentary, “White Noise”, a one hour program that focuses on Winnipeg’s intricate relationship with professional hockey – past, present and future. “White Noise” will premiere on MTS Winnipeg on Demand on Sunday, October 2, 2011. All Winnipeg on Demand content is available free of charge to all MTS TV customers.
“The return of the Winnipeg Jets has been the news story of the year and we are proud to support a documentary that will showcase the history behind the team,” said Stan Kurtas, Vice President, Marketing, MTS. “Winnipeg on Demand is a one-stop-shop for locally produced documentaries of all genres and helps to profile community producers in the Province.”
Over the last eight months, director Randy Frykas and producer Jeff Newman captured the struggle and spirit of those who fought for the return of NHL hockey to Winnipeg.
“We started making this documentary in February, several months before the return of the Jets was announced. It wasn’t supposed to be a story about the Jets coming back – that just happened, and we were there to follow it,” said Newman. “It was supposed to be about a community that wouldn’t give up the idea that its team would come back.”
“White Noise” will also be shown as part of Culture Days 2011 at a free, family-friendly screening on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. The big screen premiere at 201 Portage Avenue will take place mere steps from historic Portage & Main, the scene of many Winnipeg Jet rallies, player contract signings, and celebrations.
