Waterloo-Based Accounting Firm to Merge with MNP

Sep 13, 2011 | Corporate Member News

The Waterloo–based accounting firm, Wayne Drew Professional Corporation (WDPC), will merge with MNP LLP, one of largest chartered accountancy and business consulting firms in Canada, effective October 1, 2011. Wayne Drew, CA, is the founder of Wayne Drew Professional Corporation and has more than 35 years experience delivering a wide range of accounting and taxation services. Before establishing his own firm, Drew spent a number of years progressing through the ranks to senior management positions in an international accounting firm. Since inception of WDPC in 2002, the firm’s focus has been serving small businesses and professionals.

Drew said he was looking for an opportunity to expand his firm’s business consulting services, while MNP was looking for a like-minded firm to add more resources to its growing Waterloo location.

“We wanted to provide our clients with more services and merging with a well-established, full-service accounting and consulting firm made sense,” said Drew. “MNP also has a strong professional services client base and understands the challenges facing this important group. By partnering with MNP, we can provide even more resources and a greater depth of business consulting services to better meet our clients’ needs, while still providing the high-quality, personalized service they have come to expect.”

David Webb, Regional Managing Partner, MNP said the WDPC team is a welcome addition. “WDPC has a talented, dedicated and experienced team. Since merging in Collins Barrow Region of Waterloo LLP in January of 2010, MNP has continued to grow and we were looking for more people and resources to better meet the needs of the marketplace. We are thrilled to add such an exceptional group of people.”

The once exclusively western Canadian firm has established itself as one of the top national firms in Canada.

“Our success is a result of a combination of strong strategic mergers, organic growth and the firm’s philosophy to build lasting relationships with clients,” said Daryl Ritchie, CEO, MNP. “In 2008, MNP developed a new strategic plan to grow from being a regional to a national firm. Bringing in like-minded firms in Ontario has helped us realize that vision and we couldn’t be more pleased to have the WDPC team join the MNP family.”

Drew added that MNP has a strong Canadian presence, a passion for business and an unwavering commitment to their clients:

“What we particularly found appealing is that even though they are a large national firm, they have a small-firm culture. We are excited about joining a firm that shares our vision, values and commitment to providing quality services.”

The WDPC team will remain in their current location at the present time but have plans to move into MNP’s Waterloo office, located at 554 Weber Street North, on October 1, 2011.
