His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales Congratulates the Canadian Youth Business Foundation on 15 Years of Investing in Youth

Aug 30, 2011 | Corporate Member News

In a video address released today, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales congratulates the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) for 15 years of cultivating and investing in young entrepreneurs across Canada. This important anniversary for CYBF lands in 2011, which has been declared as the Year of the Entrepreneur by the Government of Canada and several provincial governments.

CYBF is a leading member of The Prince’s Youth Business International (YBI), a global network of entrepreneurially-minded organizations, founded by HRH Prince Charles in 2000. Since its inception in 1996, CYBF has invested in more than 4,500 young entrepreneurs and created nearly 18,000 jobs. The national charity provides pre- and post-launch coaching, financing, resources and the guidance of experienced mentors to help young entrepreneurs build successful and sustainable businesses. This comprehensive model of support has set the precedent for similar organizations around the world.

“CYBF has mentored entrepreneurial organizations in various countries including the United States of America, Mexico, Brazil and China,” explains HRH The Prince of Wales in the video. “This international engagement is vital if we are to tackle the economic downturn and rising rates of youth unemployment.”

Vivian Prokop, chief executive officer for the Canadian Youth Business Foundation expressed appreciation for His Royal Highness’ support of CYBF. “We are pleased to work alongside YBI and other international partners to support a global culture of entrepreneurship. We have a longstanding history with His Royal Highness, hosting him and The Duchess of Cornwall in 2009 at an Entrepreneurship Showcase in Vancouver’s Olympic Village. As our organization celebrates 15 years of promoting innovation and economic growth, we are grateful for HRH Prince Charles’ ongoing support of Canada’s young entrepreneurs.”
