MTS Allstream today said that its focus on expanding its IP fibre network into targeted markets across Canada continued to generate new sales wins with 60 new IP contracts signed in the second quarter of 2011.
“We continue to make excellent progress in the IP market, and in the second quarter our IP sales momentum was again, very strong creating an important funnel of pre-sold contracts that should support strong IP revenue growth in the quarters to come,” said Dean Prevost, President of Allstream. “Our success in the IP market reflects the continued demand for IP-based services in the business telecommunications market in Canada and our strong competitive position to meet this demand.”
In support of its objectives of winning high-margin on-net business and driving growth in IP services – one of the fastest growing segments of the business telecom market – Allstream continues to expand its IP fibre access into multi-tenant buildings across Canada. Since the initiative started in March 2010, Allstream has extended fibre into 174 new multi-tenant fibre-fed buildings and won a total of 247 new IP contracts.
In the second quarter, Allstream added 47 new buildings to its network. This increased Allstream’s total number of fibre-fed buildings to 2,211 at June 30, 2011.
Some of the customers that signed contracts to connect to Allstream’s 30,000 kilometre IP fibre network in the second quarter of 2011 include Active Health Management, Berletex Aero Design, Cybershift, Design Concepts, LBC Canada, Mitel, National Research Corporation Canada, Questzones, SITQ, Solios Environnement, Thomson Reuters, Workers Health & Safety Centre Federation of Ontario.
