Manitoba Beef Producers is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Cam Dahl to lead the organization as their new General Manager.
“Mr. Dahl has garnered vast experience and exposure during his career. His extensive agricultural and professional background makes him a great fit to lead our team”, said Major Jay Fox, President of MBP. “The MBP Board is confident that he will meet the challenge of his new position with great success and trust that he will build on the success of MBP and its predecessors.”
Mr. Dahl comes to MBP most recently from Pronto Energy Group – a Waste to Energy company. Prior to this, he held positions as Commissioner of the Canadian Grain Commission, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian International Grains Institute, Executive Director of the Grain Growers of Canada and spent several years working within the political process on Parliament Hill. He carries both Bachelor and Masters Degrees of Science, specializing in Agriculture Economics and his graduate research work involved cattle and deforestation in the western Brazilian Amazon.
The role of General Manager at Manitoba Beef Producers is a key position that reports to the Board of Directors. The core function of this position is to provide leadership and be responsible to implement the strategic direction as set out by the board and develop the annual operational plans that fulfill this direction. This includes initiatives and programs that positively influence and grows the beef industry sector and ensures a sustainable future for the beef producers in Manitoba.
“The Board of Directors wishes Mr. Dahl well and congratulates him on his new appointment in this important post”, said Fox. “We also believe that Cam’s appointment ushers in a new era in which MBP will play an even more significant leadership role for the Manitoba beef industry. We have much work to do on behalf of our producers.”
Dahl in turn welcomes the challenge of leading the organization at such a pivotal time.
“I am ready to roll up my sleeves and continue to build on those key relationships and connections with Government and related agricultural organizations on all levels. We will deal with those important issues and trends affecting our sector, and will champion the initiatives and targeted programs undertaken that need to be moved forward”, said Dahl. “The MBP is an organization of beef producers, working for beef producers. Along with a talented and dedicated board and staff, I am confident MBP will continue to build on our past achievements, and usher in our future successes.”
Upon Dahl’s selection, Jay Fox was able to step down as Acting General Manager; a role he filled since January, 2011.
“Jay has provided leadership to our organization and unselfishly given of his time from both his own operation and family over the last number of months, said Trevor Atchison, 2nd Vice President of MBP. “We extend our sincere thanks to him and his wife Angela for his leadership and valuable contribution during this transition period.”
Manitoba Beef Producers is the exclusive voice of the beef industry in Manitoba. Our role and mission is to represent our beef producers through communication, research, advocacy and education. We provide this representation within industry, to government, to the beef consumer and general public. These efforts take place to strengthen our industry viability, improve prosperity and ensure a sustainable future for the beef industry in Manitoba for the benefit of all our producers.
