Darrell Cole of Career Trek (l), and Sandra Altner of the Women’s Enterprise Centre (r), talk about, arguably, the two most important aspects of our future
Two of the most important aspects of the future are our youth and growing entrepreneurs (and yes, the more those two areas overlap, the brighter our future will be).
In this session, Darrell Cole of Career Trek spoke about “Helping our Youth Determine Their Future Career Path” and Sandra Altner of the Women’s Enterprise Centre explained “The Value of Developing Entrepreneurs.”
Below are brief bios of Darrell and Sandra, followed by videos of their presentations and the PowerPoint to Darrell’s presentation.
Darrell Cole: Darrell Cole is the creator and founder of Career Trek Incorporated, a Winnipeg-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping young Manitobans achieve their educational and career potential. Career Trek’s award-winning work is internationally recognized for its dynamic programming that allows young people (and their families) the opportunity to experience the value that gaining a formal education can have to their lives. Darrell is a social entrepreneur whose interests lie in creating social wealth by finding new solutions to old challenges. As a Winnipeger with deep family roots in small town southwest Manitoba (Miniota, Virden and Pipestone) Darrell is honoured to be able to speak to today’s topic.
Sandra Altner: A seasoned entrepreneur originally from New York, Sandra owned a women’s clothing boutique before completing her MBA and starting The Management Exchange, a management consulting firm that was the first in Winnipeg to offer the Self-Employment Program (SEP). The Management Exchange specialized in strategic and market planning. In 2000, Sandra was awarded the Women Business Owners of Manitoba Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Contribution to Community category. She is a fellow of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants and is past president of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of Manitoba. She was named CEO of the Women’s Enterprise Centre of Manitoba in 2007.
