MTS Allstream today said that its focus on expanding its IP fibre network into targeted markets across Canada continued to generate strong new sales wins with 48 new IP contracts signed in the first quarter of 2011.

“It has been a full year since we started to aggressively focus on building out Allstream’s IP fibre network and the number of new IP contracts we are winning in connection with this initiative demonstrate that it was the right strategy to pursue,” said Dean Prevost, President of Allstream.

In support of its objectives of winning high-margin on-net business and driving growth in IP services – the fastest growing segment of the business telecom market – in March 2010 Allstream launched a program to expand its IP fibre access into multi-tenant buildings across Canada. Since the initiative started twelve months ago, Allstream has extended fibre into 141 new multi-tenant fibre-fed buildings on a cost-effective basis and won a total of 187 new IP contracts.

Some of the customers that signed contracts to connect to Allstream’s 30,000 kilometre IP fibre network include CCN Media, Gallium, Groundswell Group, Keel Cottrelle LLP, London X-Ray Associates, Manion Wilkins & Associates, Murata Power Solutions, Nobel Biocare, The Ontario Federation of Labour, Park Property Management, Polycor, Regulvar, The Logit Group, and Thornley Fallis Communications.
