Manitoba Lotteries is ranked among Canada’s Best Employers for New Canadians, one of only 40 employers selected from a field of over 2,700 for the national designation in 2011. The recognition comes from the editorial team of Canada’s Top 100 Employers award.
Manitoba Lotteries earned this ranking for its inclusive human resource practices:
- Assisting job seekers who are recent immigrants to Canada
- Reducing barriers and recognizing foreign educational credentials and experience
- Assisting in getting foreign educational credentials recognized in Canada
- Integrating new employees who are also new Canadians
- Training all employees in cross-cultural issues and inclusiveness
- Partnering with post-secondary institutions to support employment equity
“Manitoba Lotteries offers a welcoming work environment, one in which cultural diversity is celebrated,” said Winston Hodgins, Manitoba Lotteries President and CEO.
“This latest ranking serves to underline our ongoing commitment towards representing and serving all the people of our province.”
The corporation maintains a diverse workplace, and is already ranked as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for a second year. In 2011, only 45 companies from a field of over 2,700 received this ranking. Manitoba Lotteries employs about 1,900 Manitobans, of which 52% are women, 31% are visible minorities, 2% are persons with disabilities and over 11% are Aboriginal. All employment postings are shared with equity organizations, and employment equity is a factor in the recruitment process.
These strengths have helped Manitoba Lotteries continue to be one of Manitoba’s Top Employers, an overall ranking the corporation has achieved for five consecutive years.
