BDC among Best Employers for New Canadians

Feb 28, 2011 | Corporate Member News

The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as one of the Best Employers for New Canadians for 2011.  This is the fourth consecutive year BDC has received this distinction, which follows its recent recognition as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2011.

“We embrace new Canadians as an increasingly important source of talent whose transferrable experience and business skills contribute to BDC’s success,” says Mary Karamanos, Senior Vice-President, Human Resources at BDC.  “This award reinforces our ongoing efforts to be one of the best places to work in Canada. At BDC, we strive to reflect the evolving face of the Canadian society and are proud to provide a work environment where employees of all backgrounds can make the most of their knowledge, education and talents in supporting multicultural business communities.”

Now in its fifth year, the Best Employers for New Canadians competition acknowledges the contribution of companies that offer leading programs to assist employees in making the transition to a new workplace and a new life in Canada.

BDC was selected among this year’s winners for its efforts to actively recruit new Canadians, recognize foreign educational credentials, and provide coaching, mentoring and inclusiveness programs to assist employees who are recent immigrants.
