The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) has been selected as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2011. This is the second consecutive year BDC has received this distinction, which follows its recognition as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
“We are honoured to be recognized again as one of Canada’s best diversity employers,” said Mary Karamanos, Senior Vice President, Human Resources at BDC. “BDC sets itself apart by having built an organization which reflects the different backgrounds and cultures of the Canadian entrepreneurs we serve across the country. This award comes as a confirmation of our commitment to equity and diversity practices and shows that BDC continues to foster an inclusive environment where all our employees can thrive.”
Now in its fourth edition, Canada’s Best Diversity Employers recognizes employers that have exceptional workplace diversity and inclusiveness programs. The competition examines a range of diversity initiatives that cover five major employee groups: (a) Women; (b) Members of visible minorities; (c) Persons with disabilities; (d) Aboriginal peoples; and (e) Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered/Transsexual (LGBT) peoples.
