Nov 30, 2010 | Corporate Member News

Doug Wootton, CA , A Richmond-based chartered accountant, will be merging his practice with Meyers Norris Penny, one of Canada’s largest accounting and business advisory firms, effective January 1, 2011. The merger represents a new Richmond location for MNP.

“We are proud to join forces with a well-established and highly respected team of professionals who are passionate about what they do and are committed to providing outstanding value to their clients,” said Ron Miller, CA, MNP’s Regional Managing Partner for the Vancouver Region. “Through this merger, we are adding a new office location in Richmond and, more importantly, more resources to better serve our clients.”

“Over the past few years, our practice has grown and we have continued to look for new ways to better serve our clients,” said Wootton. “We are very excited about joining a firm that shares our vision and our commitment to delivering quality services. Our clients will benefit from the firm’s additional knowledge, resources and experience in numerous industry and speciality areas and will have access to MNP’s specialists across the country.”

The Richmond merger will bring MNP’s total locations in B.C. to 15. With more than 50 locations, MNP employs almost 3,000 people from Vancouver Island to Montreal and is ranked as the seventh largest chartered accounting and consulting firm in Canada. National in scope and local in focus, MNP has been delivering a full range of services, including accounting, audit, consulting and tax, since 1945. Maclean’s magazine recently announced that MNP has been recognized as of one of the Best Employers in Canada for the third consecutive year.

Wootton added that in today’s business environment, it’s more important than ever to look at new ways to help clients achieve their goals.

“Through this merger we have joined forces to provide more resources and services to give our clients the edge they need to stay competitive and overcome current business challenges.”

For almost 20 years, Wootton ran his practice under the name of Entrust Chartered Accountants, a well established CA firm with strong roots in Richmond. His Entrust partner, Scott Armstrong, will continue to operate under the Entrust name. Wootton and his staff of 14 will remain in their current location at suite 201 – 8360 Bridgeport Road and will start operating under the MNP banner in the New Year.
