Accounting and business advisory firm climbs up the ranks of coveted list for third consecutive year

Meyers Norris Penny LLP (MNP) has been recognized as of one of the Best Employers in Canada for the third consecutive year. This national award, announced by Maclean’s Magazine, ranks and honours Canadian organizations that have created an exemplary workplace environment. In 2011 MNP placed 31st, climbing 12 positions from the previous year.

“At MNP, our people are the driving force behind our success and the reason why we have grown to become one of the largest chartered accountancy and business advisory firms in Canada,” said Bob Twerdun, Vice President of Human Capital at MNP. “This award brings tremendous pride as it reflects our team member’s personal opinions – demonstrating we remain true to our values. Putting people first is the way we conduct business and we will never lose sight of that.”

Overall engagement scores amongst organizations on this list have gone down, but MNP fought this trend and the firm’s overall engagement scores went up in 2011 compared to 2010.

Twerdun adds that despite the challenges facing the marketplace this past year, MNP continued to place importance on the firm’s most important resources – its team members.

The Best Employers in Canada are determined by three separate surveys administered by Hewitt Associates, a leading global HR outsourcing and consulting firm. The results are determined primarily through employee survey responses. Another survey determines if the firm’s goals and fundamental values are aligned with opinions of our team members and a final survey assesses the human resources policies and practices.

“We are thrilled to be named one of the Best Employers in Canada once again this year”, said Daryl Ritchie, MNP’s Chief Executive Officer. “MNP team members were given the opportunity to share their positive experiences with the firm and the results demonstrate that the firm remains true to our culture and values. As we continue to expand across Canada, we are proud to know that we continue to engage with almost 3,000 people from Vancouver Island to Montreal and continue to be an employer of choice for our team members.”

Based on responses from more than 120,000 Canadian employees at 121 companies with additional input from over 2,000 business leaders and human resources professionals, the survey found that the Best Employers have lower turnover, receive more applications and experience better business results.
