Following the success of its 2010 FIFA World Cup(TM) broadcast sponsorship, CIBC is proud to announce that it has entered into a sponsorship agreement with Visa in the retail banking category for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil(TM).

“More Canadians play soccer than any other sport. In 2010 we witnessed the passion and excitement of soccer fans across Canada and worldwide for the FIFA World Cup(TM),” said Stephen Forbes, CIBC’s Executive Vice-President of Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs. “CIBC is proud to be able to bring the energy, passion and excitement of the World’s Game to Canadians again in 2014(TM).”

Soccer appeals to many Canadians from coast to coast, and the 2010 FIFA World Cup(TM) competition demonstrated how Canada’s many diverse communities rallied around their favourite teams in the spirit of competition and sportsmanship.

Throughout the summer of 2010, CIBC leveraged its CBC broadcast sponsorship with a coast-to-coast tour. CIBC’s campaign showcased the pride and enthusiasm of CIBC employees, engaged our clients, and generated tremendous excitement and awareness around the CIBC brand.

“We are confident that this opportunity will present tremendous benefits for CIBC, our employees and our clients,” adds Mr. Forbes. “We will again launch an integrated marketing campaign that demonstrates employee pride in CIBC and resonates deeply within Canada’s multicultural communities.”
