Viterra Opens Sexsmith Grain Terminal

Viterra Inc. (“Viterra”) (TSX:VT), (ASX:VTA) is pleased to announce the official opening of its new high throughput terminal near Sexsmith, Alberta, approximately 18 kilometres north of Grande Prairie.

Viterra customers, employees and local government officials were at Sexsmith today to commemorate the opening of the facility, which offers 30,000 tonnes of grain storage and 104 railcar loading capacity.

In his remarks to the audience Mayo Schmidt, President and CEO of Viterra said, “Our $22 million investment in this state-of-the-art terminal underscores our confidence that the Peace River Region will continue to play a significant role in Canadian and global agriculture for years to come. We are proud of this facility and of what it will mean to farmers, suppliers and customers.”

Schmidt added that the project illustrates Viterra’s commitment to driving excellence in Canada’s supply chain.

The company is also building a full service retail centre on the site, which will offer a host of products and services to area customers, including proprietary seed, fertilizer, crop protection products, equipment, financing and agronomic advice. Construction is underway and expected to be completed by the spring of 2011.
